Wok Store: The concept of “wellness” - both physically and mentally - is at the core of the Sporty & Rich brand, one could say it is the soul of the brand!
It’s certainly not an easy concept to convey virtually and through clothing, especially in the fashion industry, renowned for high stress and the emphasis on appearance rather than well-being.
How challenging has it been, and still is, to reflect this in what you do? How important and influential is it when you create a collection or drop?
Emily: I’m very lucky because I am one of the few founders and owners of a company that has a perfect balance - So I have been lucky enough to build my work around my life, rather than build my life around my work.
I love what I do, but I also need to have time to take care of myself, my health and not be constantly stressed about the business.
I feel that isn’t an enjoyable way of life, and the purpose of life is to enjoy and be happy.
In creating new collections, I always want there to be a message of wellness, health and taking care of yourself.
A brand is the great vehicle to communicate different messages to the world and for us, it’s health is wealth!
