WoodWatch: I used to be terrible at this

Hi! Jonay here, CEO of WoodWatch.

I used to be terrible at taking time off.

When you run your own company, there’s always something you could be doing. An email to answer, an idea to work on, something to check. And for a long time, even when I wasn’t working, part of my head still was.

I’ve gotten a lot better at that over the years.

Especially on weekends, I really try to get away from my laptop and spend more time outside. Going for a walk, having a long lunch somewhere, spending time with friends and family, or just getting out of the city for a bit. Nothing particularly exciting, but I’ve learned that those are often the moments that actually help me switch off.

And there’s one thing that pretty much always comes with me: my Sailor.

It’s been my go-to watch for a long time now. I wear it to work, but just as easily on a weekend away, to dinner or when I’m spending the day outside. I think that’s probably why it became my favourite. I never really have to think about it.

Funny enough, taking more time away from work has probably made me better at my job too. You come back with a clearer head, more energy and sometimes an idea you wouldn’t have had sitting behind your desk.

So if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that time off isn’t really time wasted.

Sometimes it’s exactly what you need.
