Trek Stories: From the Himalayas with Love🇳🇵🥾 |
Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to go on one of our trips? Well, you’re in luck— we’re launching a brand-new newsletter series where we share stories straight from our amazing travellers who’ve been there, done that, and lived to tell the tale! 🎒
This week, we’re diving into Mainard’s epic journey on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. From what gear to pack, to how to dodge altitude sickness like a pro, and even a few insider tips you won’t find in any guidebook—it’s all here.

How did you prepare physically and mentally for Annapurna Base Camp? 💪 |
🏃 “In the month before the trip, I did one trek a week with at least 1000 meters of altitude gain to train my legs and breath.”
🥾 The Annapurna Base Camp trek covers an average of 10–15 kilometers of hiking per day with steep ascents and descents. Preparing with regular hikes and leg-strengthening exercises can make all the difference.
🌺 Did You Know? The trail winds through lush rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and villages before reaching the majestic Annapurna Sanctuary.

Sherpas are skilled mountaineers native to the Himalayas. They often carry 30–40 kg (66–88 lbs) of gear daily, ensuring trekkers and climbers have what they need to reach their goals.
|
Have you had altitude sickness? 🥴 |
😌 “No, I didn’t suffer from altitude sickness, even at 4600m.”
🔝 At its peak, Annapurna Base Camp offers breathtaking 360-degree views of towering Himalayan giants like Annapurna I (8,091m) and Machapuchare (6,993m). You’ll feel like you’re standing in a natural amphitheater of snow-capped peaks. 🏔️
🤗 Pro Tip: To avoid altitude sickness, plan your itinerary to include acclimatisation days. The gradual ascent on the Annapurna trek helps your body adapt to the thinner air. Mainard did a reel on his experience (in 🇮🇹Italian though, sorryyyy to our international community 🤓)

What’s the one item you’re so glad you packed? 🙏 |
🧥 “A good warm fleece for the evenings when it was cool.”
🍵 Tea houses along the trek offer basic but cozy accommodations, often with wood-burning stoves in the common areas. While they’re a welcome refuge, the bedrooms can still get chilly at night, so that fleece will be your best friend!
🧳 Packing Tip: Don’t forget a good sleeping bag (rated for sub-zero temperatures) and thermal layers. Nights at altitude are cold 🥶, even when the days are sunny and pleasant.

How would you describe this experience in one sentence? |
🌄 “A journey that immerses you in Nepalese culture and everyday life.”
🇳🇵 Along the way, you’ll pass through traditional Gurung and Magar villages, where you can experience local hospitality, taste traditional dal bhat, and learn about their deep connection to the mountains. It’s not just a trek—it’s a cultural immersion.

Only goooood vibes in Nepal 💃
|
👣 “Absolutely yes, I would definitely do it again with my friends.”
🏔 Annapurna is considered one of the most accessible high-altitude treks in the Himalayas, making it a top choice for hikers seeking both challenge and beauty.
🥰 Why People Return: The Annapurna trek isn’t just about reaching the destination—it’s the entire journey. From the sense of accomplishment to the bonds you form with fellow trekkers and locals, it’s an adventure you’ll want to relive!
