WoodWatch: What being CEO taught me about time

Hi! Jonay, CEO of WoodWatch here.

It’s a little ironic that I spend my days running a brand built around time while constantly feeling like there’s never quite enough of it.

Working at WoodWatch has made me think about time differently over the years. As a CEO, there is always something that needs your attention. Another email, another meeting, another decision to make, another idea to work on.

There will always be more you could do. And I’ve learned that being busy and spending your time well aren’t necessarily the same thing.

Some of the moments I value most have nothing to do with work. A good conversation after a long day. A weekend away. Sitting down for dinner without checking my phone. Those small moments that don’t feel particularly important when they happen, but somehow stay with you.

I think that’s what I like about wearing a watch. It’s a simple reminder that time is always moving. You can’t save it for later or go back and use it differently.

So lately, I’ve been trying to ask myself a simple question when my days get busy:

Is this really where I want to spend my time?

I don’t always get the answer right. But I think asking the question is already a good start.

Because when we look back, I don’t think we remember how busy we were. We remember the moments that mattered.

Enjoy your time,

Jonay
