Sicily by the sea is one of Mapo Tapo best sellers. This is a 5-day rock-climbing trip across the north-west coast of Sicily, Italy. The trip is "Open to all", meaning that there is no particular rock climbing experience required (read more on experience and activity levels). Every departure is limited to a small group of maximum 6 climbers.

Sicily by the Sea is the perfect trip for all beginner and experienced climbers who want to enjoy a chill climbing vacation in Sicily.

Sicily by the sea is prevalently a sport climbing trip. However, there is the possibility of going bouldering in the Scorace forest if the whole group agrees to do so. For the departures in summer, there is also DWS day.

Practice your favorite sport every day in a relaxed mood. Wake up, go climbing, chill at the beach, enjoy a Sicilian dinner, chill with the group, sleep, and repeat. That is what your day will look like.

The trip is perfect for those who are new to these activities or have limited experience and for those who are more experienced and want to enjoy climbing in Sicily. Our local guides will take you to crags with a wide range of climbing grades, for both beginner and more experienced.

Sicily is known for the beautiful sea, the laid-back vibe, and food. Glorious Food. Climbing here means golden tufas on vertical or overhanging walls overlooking the sea.

 

Climbers will find more than 50 crags with thousands of sport routes on limestone rock and a stunning sandstone boulder area. Sicily is one of the sunniest places in Europe - 2500+ hours of sun per year! -, making it a perfect winter destination, while the breeze from the sea makes climbing possible even in warmer months if you know where to go.

 

The locals are super friendly: learn a little Italian, ask them for updated info on the quality of bolts (!), and let them take you to the yummiest street food kiosks!

Sicily by the Sea is a 5-day rock climbing trip open to all participants with any climbing experience. Here is the day-to-day breakdown:

Day 1️⃣ Arrival: pick up at the airport and welcome aperitivo. While Gio and Cata prepare the dinner, you can chill & climb at the Stardust Wall, the B&B's climbing wall.

Day 2️⃣ Sport climbing: enjoy breakfast and then go climbing. Depending on the weather conditions, you will visit one of the Trapani, Custonaci, or San Vito lo Capo crags.

Day 3️⃣ Sport Climbing and beach time: another full climbing day. Our local guide will take you to the best crag for the day. After climbing, we'll head to the beach to relax and dive in the sea! 

Day 4️⃣ Bouldering or DWS: last climbing day. Decide together with our local guide if to go sport climbing or bouldering. If the sea water temperature is right, there is also the possibility to go deep water soloing.

Day 5️⃣ Departure: sad to see you leave 🙁. After breakfast let's chill one more time on the Stardust Wall at the B&B. After that 

Marco is one of the two certified UIAGM local guides in the whole Sicily. He will be the one assessing your climbing level and giving you tips and tricks on betas and technique.

Gio & Cata moved to Sicily in 2016 and co-founded the B&B Polvere di Stelle. Their mission was to establish Western Sicily as a renowned sport-climbing and bouldering destination. They are the pioneers behind the Bosco Scorace bouldering area. Indeed, they cleaned more than 200 blocks from 4a to 8a+ by themselves and continue sharing their love for climbing with all the people visiting Sicily.

B&B Polvere di Stelle is your accommodation for the trip. The B&B was started by Gio & Cata in 2016 with the goal of bringing people climbing in this amazing place.

 

It is located in Ummari, 24km distance from Trapani, and it is the perfect climbing house with a hot-tube and a climbing wall in the backyard - the Stardust Wall. ✨

 

Rooms are shared and Breakfast and dinners are homemade by Gio and they always included in the listing. Gio is an excellent cook with a pastry chef past! 😉
